Trails - Still some problems in the Lawler area but being worked on. Reports are lots of traffic on trails and people really enjoying them. Club members continue to monitor weekly for trees, brush, repair, etc.
Pine County Roads -Opportunity to connect Soo Line Trail to General Andrews State Forest. Also start at county line, south through City of Sturgeon Lake - corridor trail along old Hwy 1 into city, then cross Hwy 61 near Hagenbeck Garage and out to Gen Andrews. Stay off Hwy 46 to the east. Eventually plan is to run west of SL along Hwy 46 to gravel road and hook up with Soo Line west of the city. This is a 7-step process and will take time. Motion by Mike second by Harold for club to pursue Pine County corridor trails. Carried.
Prison area - Bryce Bogenholm , ML Chief of Police, approached prison personnel regarding trail. Prison officials are receptive to having trail run along their property. Jim to contact MSOP.
Soo Pit - Wait till spring and get dozer in to brush and widen some trails.
Carlton County Roads Access - still in plans to get road access to Fond du lac Forest, Barnum to Soo Line, etc.
Club Ride - Sept 18 - Jerry reported on ride - Fair turn-out. Weather was great, trails good, leaves in full color. Jerry bought brats/beans, etc for trail-side cookout. Fun by all.
Christmas Party - Cromwell Pavilion reserved for January 8, 2011. Agree to have Russ Dahl cater. Rita to be in touch with him. Will also donate to food shelf again, in lieu of gift exchange.
Posters - Jim stated that Bernicks in St Cloud will print posters for us. Rita to come up with something for next meeting. Hope to have posters ready toward end of year when we do our promo for club membership and business sponsors.
ATVAM - Harold reported on recent Fall Conference held in Nashwauk. George Radke elected president. ATVAM has recently won 3 national awards for their continuing work. Approx $2 million can be appropriated for a new trail from Little Falls to Brainerd/Baxter area. Harold has also requested from ATVAM a list of legislators who support ATVing in MN. Tom Kittel of Holyoke won the generator on the 50/50 tickets.
Youth Training - As a result of the last training, discussion was held regarding pre-payment/pre-registration for training.. Had 37 students confirmed (by parents) for class and only 17 showed up. We can judge more accurately how much food and how many instructors we will need if we have pre-registration.. Parents are more apt to see their kids get to training if they have already put out the money. A higher amount will be charged if they just show up at the door without preregistration. Motion by Dawn second by Gale to change to pre-pay/register system. Carried.
We will follow the same schedule as last year:
Wrenshall - April 23 Willow River - May 21
Cromwell - April 30 McGrath - May 28
Tamarack - May 7 Palisade - June 4
Barnum - May 14
Correspondence - Letter from Steve Trenhail - Moose Lake Fire Chief regarding funding for purchase of new Ranger. Jim to call him.
-Email from Bonnie Chester regarding club host ATVAM conference next year. All information read and discussed. General consensus is that our club members are mostly retired and we would not have enough members to carry this out. This conference requires a lot of time and effort. Rita to send email back to Bonnie.
Next meeting - November 4 in Cromwell.
Motion by Mike second by Jeff to adjourn. Carried.
Respectfully submitted, Rita Butterfield
