Old Business -
-Grant money not in yet, could take up to another 60 days.
-Web Site - Jim has not been able to connect with David Lehtola as yet.
-County Roads - Pine County at standstill right now. Aitkin County Hwy Engineer will be at the next 70-mile trail meeting to start discussion about ATV travel on county roads near trail heads. Frank will check on insurance for trails on roads.
-70 mile trail is now Northwoods ATV Trail. The Yamaha grant money will be used to print maps - only about 4500 this first year- and new signage.
-$150,000 grant has been applied for to maintain Lawler loops. Grand opening of new trails in May, will be attended by many dignitaries from throughout the state. Work is progressing on the Solana Forest trails now, MCC crew is busy hauling supplies, etc., which had been stored at Frank’s . Land Dept’s expectation is that club members be “eyes and ears” on trails and notify their office of need of major repairs, etc. Trail opening dates will be posted on DNR web site.
-Soo Pit still needs marking for new stretch.
-Club Rides - Jerry Stone back in April, table until then.
-Vests - See Rita if you are in need of a new vest.
-Polaris Grant Application - has been completed and mailed in.
-George Radke and Dennis Krumweide from Driftskippers were introduced. George was there to talk about joint efforts between clubs in maintaining trails. Talked a bit about how 5 different clubs work together and keep the Red Top Trails clean and maintained. He said if we need help once these new trails on finished, to let him know and he can help get things going. He also talked a bit about the Ambassador Program and how it works. Rita had also talked with Deb Quinn who is the head of the program at Camp Ripley and had answers for a lot of questions. Any money earned from the Ambassador Program can also be used for training. At this time, there is no interest among club members to become Ambassadors. Paperwork would have to be completed and sent to the DNR by April to get approval for this year.
New Business
-Rita talked about training packets and gifts for the kids. Mention of pens and flashlights again. Pat Collins said the Rory Olson foundation may be a source for funding for flashlights. Motion by Kevin second by Mel to order pens at this time. Carried.
No other business, motion by Mel to adjourn, second by Kevin. Carried.
Respectfully submitted, Rita Butterfield
