February 4, 2010
7:00 p.m.
Present: Bob Dresser, Pete Seelen, Darlene Turnock, Sylvia Johnson, John Koolmo, Harold & Shirley Dallmann, Phil & Dawn Lippo, Mike Freiberg, Dean Tegland, Jim Gassert, Earl Romnes, Roger Olson, Kevin Turnock, Stan & Judy Davis, Jeff & Gale Bradford, Mel Johnson and Rita Butterfield. Guests were Greg Bernu, Carlton County Land Commissioner and Brent Speldrich, Conservation Officer.
Motion by Dean, second by Phil to approve minutes of December 3. Carried.

Motion by Phil second by Pete to approve Treasurer’s report. Carried.
Old Business:
- Pine County roads - any further action has been put on hold at this time.
- Add’l trail in Soo Pit not marked yet.
- Anyone in need of vests, see Rita
- Harold recently attended ATVAM event - gave brief synopsis of upcoming issues/actions by ATVAM , including discussion on non-resident trail pass, training, need for “legal” ATV season, watch-dogging dedicated funds, possible change in users on MN/WI border Munger trail.
Greg Bernu was present to inform club the Parks & Trails Legacy Grant funding was approved for $50,000.
He shared info on trestle project - expected work to be completed, etc. and provided us with a copy of a twenty year plan for the Soo Line Trail. All exciting information. The County must provide matching funds. Motion by Mike second by Mel the Club apply for grant from Polaris. Carried.
New Business:
- Jim shared info from the ATV Alliance meeting held on Feb 2 at Long Lake. Mostly was a re-cap of info on the 70-mile trail project, which is now officially know as the Northwoods Regional ATV Trail. Another meeting will be scheduled.
- ATVAM member appreciation banquet to be held in Forest Lake on April 3 Go to ATVAM web site for more info www.atvam.org
- Reminder that membership dues should be paid.
Brent Speldrich was available to talk about the Ambassador Program, new laws, old laws, ATV training, etc. He commended all the instructors for the good job of training. Stated there is a need for a class in the Palisade area and possibly Aitkin. He will get further info and be in contact. He will also get a name of a DNR person to come one of our meetings and discuss the Ambassador program further. He closed by informing the members that he has nominated Rita for ATV Instructor of the Year. Most members already knew about this (all but Rita) - well kept secret, guys and girls!!!
Correspondence: ATVAM - Ambassador Training to be held Feb 27 Cabella; March 6 Beltrami; April 10 Grand Rapids; March 20 Camp Ripley and May 11 Camp Riley.
There being no more business, motion by Mike second by Roger to adjourn. Carried.
