Old Business -
- Trails - Trail along Hwy 61 is finished and signed. Jerry, Dean and Mike did some brushing and clearing in Soo Pit - trees removed from across trail. Road should be graded into pit. Soo Line needs grading - Jim to talk to Warren. Still talk about trail near prison being a possibility. Discussion on bridge of some sort over the little creek south of the Soo Line, west of Sturgeon Lake.
- Northwoods Trail System - Open house for comments on Phase II will be held at Quadna on Aug 24. Next regular meeting at also at Quadna on Aug 31. Club members encouraged to attend these meeting and show support for trails. Frank reported on grand opening of Lawler Loops in July - rainy day, fair attendance.
Some chose to ride the trails, others just participated in the indoor events and ribbon cutting ceremony.
- Insurance for club officers - still checking.
-ATVAM tickets - 50/50 tickets sales are down. This is our one fund raiser - we need to get them sold. The County Fair is in 3 weeks, will sell most of them there.
- Pine County Roads - Jim met with committee on July 26 in Sandstone with Pine County staff - attorney, 3 commissioners, highway engineer and other. After much discussion, they determined there are 3 options -
1) do nothing; 2) open minimum “corridor access” routes; and 3) open all roads. There will be another meeting soon, most probable decision would be #2 - corridor access trails. At this time, no decision.
- Itasca County Roads - Still waiting to hear outcome of their meetings.
- Legacy Money for Trestles - County still working on more grants and matching funds.
New Business:
-Club ride tentative for September 18 - perhaps Lawler trails.
-In the past the club has sent flowers to funerals of club members families. We missed Dick’s mom’s service and opted to give a $50 donation to the Tri Community Food Shelf in her name.
- County Fair - Rita and Roger will staff our booth from opening till 4:00 each day. Relief will be:
Harold & Shirley - Thurs 4 - 8; Dean and Jerry - Fri 4 - 8; Dick and Jerry G - Sat 12 - 4; Frank and Kevin - Sat 4 - 8; Phil and Dawn Sun 4 - closing.
Next meeting; September 2 at Gampers.
Motion by Franklin to adjourn, second by Dick. Carried.
Respectfully submitted, Rita Butterfield
