Old Business:
- Pine County Roads Access - Jim has talked with Terry Peterson, project is moving forward, waiting for County Board approval. Discussed “permit” vs “ordinance” regarding ATV use on county roads. If done by ordinance, riders under 16 without drivers license will not be able to ride roads. If done by permit, age is not a factor and youth riders can drive in company of parents as with any GIA trail. Rita to contact Roseau and Cook Counties to see what they did.
- Soo Pits - Jerry will call Greg Bernu about mapping
- Polaris Grant - this was refused. Polaris encouraged us to re-apply in the fall. Carlton County auditor’s office working on Yamaha Grant for matching funds.
- May 11 Ambassador Training at Camp Ripley if anyone interested. Does not appear to be a lot of interest in this program among club members.
- Northwoods ATV Trail Update - Frank reported on mtg at Quadna. Grand opening of Lawler area loops probably in July. Give time for trail to be open to public and see how it holds up. Grand Openings will be held for different segments of trail as they are finished. Work continues on the Solana project, not done until late this summer. Working on signs, 4500 maps will be printed initially. Next mtg will be at LLCC in Palisade on May 4 2010 at 6:00. Meetings are open to the public. Representation from area clubs shows the committee that local clubs are supporting project and taking interest in maintenance of these trails.
-Training - Schedules are set - will have 2 classes prior to our next meeting. Discussion on gifts for kids and info packets. Motion by Jerry second by Mike to purchase sport pack bags, with club logo, email address and ride/drive safely. Carried. Will be ordered next week. Pens will also be ordered.
- Thank you notes from Moose Lake Area Food Shelf and Cromwell Tri-County Food Shelf were received.
New Business:
- Trail Grading - wait awhile until ground settles. Any holes in the trail report to Mike. Bob M donated roles of marker ribbon to be used on bad areas.
- Club Ride - Tentatively June 5 - Lawler.
- 50/50 Tickets - Rita has talked with ATVAM. Will be available soon. Each club member should take at least one book of tickets to sell.
- Harold gave report on ATVAM conference. Lots of things in the works right now. Dedicated funds allocation is secure. Initial information was that some dollars would be raided for other funds. Some talk of riding seasons, out of state youth and on-line safety course, MN trail pass for out of state riders. Info seems different that what we first thought. Clubs will be able to charge up to $30 per student for ATV training, this seems excessive. No changes in what we are doing at this time. Cost remains at $15, all of which goes to the State.
- April 3 ATVAM member appreciation banquet in Forest Lake.
- Next PAC Meeting May 6 at Denham Run.
There being no other business, motion by Mel second by Kevin to adjourn. Carried.
Respectfully submitted, Rita Butterfield
