Old Business:
- Grant application has been submitted in amount of $25000. Rita to send thank you letter to County Auditor Paul Gassert for assistance in this process.
- 70 Mile trail Report - Frank Turnock had maps available showing existing and proposed trails in the Lawler area, Solana Forest and Itasca County. Bids have been awarded in some areas to begin hauling fill, rocks, etc. Aitkin County has received a $10,000 grant from Yamaha to use for maps, signs and youth safety training. It is important to keep ATV riders out of construction areas during process. Mike suggested perhaps ATV ambassadors could patrol during high traffic times.
- Mel mentioned damage to some snowmobile trails again. There is money available from the state to repair trails and a process to request it. He also suggested in the fall, we grade one last time just prior to snowmobile season to make sure trails are in good shape on December 1 when trails open.
- The club will be applying for a grant from Polaris to replace some of the planks on the trestle bridges.
- Nothing further has been done as far as approaching the County Board regarding County roads. Mike Silvis described the process they used in Itasca County and is going to send copies of pertinent information to Jim. Mike willoffer any assistance he can in this project.
- Harold Dallmann reported on the ATVAM legislative conference they attended in St Cloud in Dec. Much information regarding 70-mile trail; funding for state forest trails, law enforcement; and updates on the anti-groups throughout the state.
New Business:
- Information on ATVAM Vision Conference at Cragens March 6 - 8. Expenses paid for any club member wishing to attend. Mike Silvis reports this is usually a very good conference. Frank attended last year.
- Day on the Hill - ATVAM and club members visit law-makers at the Capitol - March 3. It’s a good time to thank law-makers who support good ATV legislation and to encourage those who don’t.
- Brent Speldrich, CO from the McGregor area will be invited to the next meeting, perhaps CO’s from the
southern part of Aitkin County as well.
Motion by Frank seconded by Kevin to adjourn. Carried.
Respectfully submitted, Rita Butterfield
