Old Business
70 - Mile Trail - Frank and Bob gave update on progress. DNR will be meeting with contractors in Mary to determine material for wetland crossings, etc. Any contractors interested may attend. Mats have been purchased for some areas - 1000' x 8' at a cost of $25000 each to lay over wetland, expect cost of $50,000 for culverts and other materials. Lawler loops will add 15 miles of new trail. Some work has been completed in Itasca County, May be into June before contracts are let. There is still need to form a club alliance. Frank is waiting for by-laws from Len Hardy, once received, he will notify all local clubs. Construction areas will be well marked to keep traffic out. This is where club members need to help out while riding, watch areas when prohibited and remind riders to stay out. Local business owners will be given information also to tell riders about closed areas.
Harold Dallmann reported on ATVAM vision meeting at Breezy Point. Brought back lots of information from ATVAM. Reminder: ATV Fair Benton County May 2-3, June 13 Silver Bay, a second attempt at breaking the record for longest ATV parade.
Cromwell Trail and Dago Lake Trails tabled.
New Business:
City of Moose Lake has asked to re-route the trail from school property near ALCO. Perhaps contact prison to see if possible to run trail on opposite side of Hwy 73 through old road on back side of prison. The City is also out of ATV maps (city routes) and they won’t print any more. Motion by Orv second by Mike for club to cover cost of reprinting maps. Carried. Orv and Rita to review and have printed.
Work Logs - Remember to keep track of hours, etc., and turn in to Jim.
Talked a bit about HF-132 pertaining to changing law to allow ATV travel on County Roads. Encouraged members to write their senator/representatives to support this law.
Roger reminded members of raffle run sponsored by White Pine Riders in Denham on June 27.
Talk to Jerry Stone when he returns from AZ about spring ride.
