Ambassador Program: After discussion, consensus is to not pursue this program until a later date when the “bugs” are worked out.  Club members already accomplish much of the same type activities now, i.e., handing out maps, answer questions, pick up trash, etc.

Rita reported on ATV Youth Instructor Training on March 29 - total of 8 new instructors in our area, to include Phil Lippo and Mike Freiberg.

Youth Training scheduled: McGrath April 12; Barnum April 26 and Tamarack May 3.  As we get closer to training dates, determine how many instructors needed at which locations. Rita to keep in contact with Mel and Frank.  Post cards were sent to those who signed up at the County Fair last fall (13).  Motion by Frank second by Earl to provide lunch for training at Barnum.  Carried.  (Already provided at other sites.)  After further discussion, motion by Frank second by Mike to pay ATVAM membership for one year for all the students who complete training at all 3 sites.  Carried.

Frank reported on 70 mile trail planning.  EAW process has started.  Project has been set up in 2 phases; phase one will be completion on connecting trails that pose no issues.  Phase two will be areas in Warba, Swatara and others that will require more time.  The next meeting will be April 29 at either Long Lake or Hill City.

Club Ride will be Friday May 16 - meet at parking area in Lawler and ride/dedicate the Turnock Loop trail.  Lenny will take care of advertising, Frank will contact ATVAM, Aitkin and McGregor papers.  This will be good press for the club.

Dates to remember:

  • May 3 & 4 - ATV Fair at Benton Co. Fairgrounds
  • June 14 - ATV parade in Silver Bay
  • July 12 - ATV pull and obstacle course at Aitkin Co Fairgrounds.

After discussion, unanimous decision to appoint Jerry Stone as Club Activities Director

Discussion on new trail projects.  Nothing firm at this time.
Darwin suggested a tree across a track where 4-wheelers are climbing the hill to the Soo Line along Co 8.

Due to Rita now responsible for club email, and poor internet connection, Jim posed to members that, in lieu of the reimbursement now paid to Rita, that the club pay the expense of hi-speed internet.  Initial hook up is estimated at about $400 and monthly cost is approximately $90.  This would be less than current reimbursement.  Motion by Frank, second by Mike, that the club pay this expense and further, pay reimbursement for mileage to meetings  at the end of the year so compensation is not less than it is now.
Carried.

Len Hardy will be invited to next meeting, May 1 at Denham.

Motion by Mike second by Darwin to adjourn.  Carried.

Respectfully submitted by Rita Butterfield
