-Scott Staples and Dustie Heaton were introduced to the group. Discussion followed regarding ATVs running on County roads and ditch areas, changes in rules/regulations affecting ATVs, etc. Scott and Dustie both talked of areas of concern with riders trying to get to forest trails from existing trails and lack of connecting trails. More discussion on this in the future. Co Rd 103 to Co 8 to 155 to get into Nemadji Forest; Old trail went of Munger Trail - Moose Lake to Willow River; Co Rd 138 of 13 from Barnum to Soo Line; and Pine Co 46 to General Andrews are a few locations mentioned. Discuss problems with dirt bikes in Soo Pit and ATVs on Hwy 73/27.

-Franklin reported on 70-mile trail project. States the EAW has been completed, but always a possibility for an appeal. Only 4 comments were received, nothing major. Hopefully Phase II can be started in the spring in areas where issues have prevented any earlier activity. There will be 2 additional loops in the Lawler area - Kettle River trail back to Soo Line, south of Turnock Loop. Some signs were stolen but were returned. CO Jeff Koehn from Grand Rapids had stated Aitkin Co can allow ATVs on CSAH in Beaver Township.

-Discussion on upcoming spring ATV training schedules. Instructors present agreed good idea to get scheduled early in year, get posters out to schools, dealers, local businesses, etc. Will continue to handle training through same channels as previously done, i.e., community ed. Rita will contact DNR at Camp Ripley for supplies, contact local Conservation Officers for participation, get posters done, etc.

-Soo Pit - Jerry and Jim feel trails in good shape right now, get a dozer in the spring for clean up if needed. Orv will get gate keys to local fire, ambulance and police departments. Greg Bernu, Land Commissioner, reminds that Soo Pit is open to hunting after October 1.

-Jerry report on ride on Sept 27 16 machines, good day, a little wet but all had fun.

-Rita asked if anyone is interested in becoming a snowmobile safety instructor. Contact her if anyone wants to be certified. Shelly Patten, DNR training officer, will be having a class in the area yet this fall if enough interest.

-Reminder to turn in work logs as soon as you can. Jim will be working on next grant soon.

-Motion by Franklin to adjourn, second by Orv. Carried. Adjourned 845PM
