Motion by Mike, second by Frank to approve treasurer’s report.   Carried.

Greg Bernu, Carlton Co Land Commissioner, was present to discuss a new building project which will affect a portion of the Soo Line Trail close to the Soo Pit.  A new sub-division is going to be built on property where  the current drive-way crosses the Soo Line west of the Pit access road.  For the driveway to line up with the plans for the sub-division, the drive-way needs to be lowered and moved to the east.  The trail will be sloped   20:1 for a total  distance of approximately  200 feet.  During the re-construction of the trail, Greg’s concern is re-routing ATV traffic.  Motion by Frank, second by Dick, to form a  committee to work with the Land and Hwy Departments.  Motion carried.  Committee will consist of Jim, Mike, Orv and Dean.

Greg also said a new parking lot has been added on the SE corner of Co 1 that will accommodate 5 to 6 cars. Some repair work has also been done on the trail towar Wisconsin  in the area of Rock Creek, upstream side of culvert .

Frank reported on latest from the 70-mile project.  After last meeting, sponsoring legislator was concerned that this project was not a new 70 mile trail.  The proposal is working in 2 phases.  Some of the connecting trails need further approval, etc.  Consensus is to go ahead and work on the ones where there are no problems.   Frank also stated that the Solana trail was included in this.  Enforcement is still a concern.  Basic planning in process for the Ambassador Program.  Currently open only to certified instructors, limited to 70 participants.  To be held at Camp Ripley, 2 day program.

The Club wishes to thank Dick and Elaine Huhta and the Cromwell city personnel for all their help in setting up the Community Center for the Christmas party and the other meetings we have there.  They all do a good job.

Jim stated that with changes in the IRS this past year, we will have to file.  Jim to get info to H&R Block.

Rita to look into changing checking account to earn interest on balance.  Also to discuss with Tarey Johnson about getting informational emails from the web site directed back to Rita.  Motion by Jim second by Mike to pay her $20 per month as we paid to Tarey,  to handle this.  Carried.

Discussion held on dedicating the Turnock Loop.  Frank said that Len Hardy would like to be there to represent ATVAM, would need about 2 week notice.  We could also get the  press out there for pictures, etc.
Bring any ideas to the March meeting.

Information on the following events was passed around:
- Conference at Cragens Feb 29 - March 3.  Frank would like to go, not overnight, bring any receipts for reimbursement.
- Silver Bay - Attempt to set the record for the longest  ATV parade, trying for 2500, in conjunction with ATVAMs 25th anniversary.  This in on June 14.
- Day at the Capitol March 4.

Frank reported the Aitkin Co Fair will have another ATV Pull on July 12, sponsored by the Blind Lake ATV Club.  They have sent a challenge to other clubs in the area.

Frank will invite DNR enforcement to the next meeting March 6.

ATV Training - Nothing scheduled yet for Tamarack or Barnum.  White Pine has a class for April 12.  Rita to contact Kelly Lake regarding an early spring class in Barnum.

Roger reported that he is going to be in touch with Shelly Patten regarding an instructor training class.  There are several White Pine members that want to take the training.  Phil expressed an interest in becoming certified.  Roger will let us know when this is scheduled.  Perhaps we can get it on the announcements page of our web site.

Next two meetings at Lawler, March 6 and April 3 2008.

Motion by Mike to adjourn, second by Phil.  Carried.

Respectfully submitted by Rita Butterfield
