Meeting Minutes
Denham Run - Denham
May 3, 2007
7:00 p.m.
Present: Lenny Kroska, Tarey Johnson, Don Dudley, Roger Olson, Pete Seelen, Gary Wright, Kevin Turnock, Frank Turnock, Orv Evensen, Darwin Chester, Mel Johnson, Jack Kop, Phil & Dawn Lippo, Dean Tegland, Jerry Stone, Earl Romnes, Leo Dahlberg, Cloyce Murdock and Jim Gassert. (Secretary/Treasurer absent - no report. Minutes by Dawn Lippo)
Meeting called to order by Chair Jim Gassert at 7:20 pm. New member Gary Wright introduced. Jim reported treasury balance at approximately $18,000.
Old Business -
- Outhouses - Jerry set one up by Automba, one at Soo Pit and one near Wisc line. Concrete picnic tables to go out, Jerry pick out sites.
- Tickets - ATVAM 50/50 tickets for sale ay $2. For each ticket sold, $1 remains with local club. Get tickets from Pete.
- Banner for Fair - Pepsi banners have arrived
- Motion by Jim Gassert to affirm we are satisfied with Mark Jacobs progress on 70 mile trail. Second by Darwin. Approved.
- Mel reported on ATV safety training classes. 19th of May in Barnum, 26th in Tamarack. Mel recommends kids bring their own ATVs if available, not so confusing. Tamarack group will bring trailer.
- Vests - Need more vests for training classes. Motion by Mel, second by Jack, to purchase another 24 vests. Approved. Orv will order.
- ATV Pull planned for last day of Aitkin Co Fair. Frank Turnock passed out information about this and other pulls in the area.
- Correspondence - Thank you from White Pine Riders and two notices from ATVAM - 1) legal battle over vehicle-based recreational use in Superior National Forest; and 2) DNR seeks comments on forest access proposals for St Louis and Carlton Counties until June 29.
- Jackets - tabled from last months’ meeting for more information. Pete reports jackets will cost about $85, good quality, stitched. Pete will bring samples to June or July meeting and we’ll order at that time.
- Jim still has a few caps available.
- Signs for Turnock Loop. Motion by Phil, second by Jack, to post 4 signs. Approved. Forest green with white lettering. Work party - leave name/number with Jack if you want to help.
- Spring Run - Ride the Turnock Trail. Meet at Kabin’s in Kettle River at 5:00pm or Lawler 5:30 on May 10.
New Business -
- Check on 501C(3) - State is the holder of the 501c(3) for pull tabs so any ATV club is eligible to accept monies.
- New trail maps for Pine County should be out next week.
- White Pine Riders have another ATV class scheduled for June 9. Jim check on trailer and props.
No further business, motion by Mel, second by Orv to adjourn at 8:35. Approved.
