Meeting Minutes
Jackson Hole - Lawler
April 5, 2007
7:00 p.m.



Present: Al Rinta, Mel Johnson, Kevin Turnock, Shawn Lindgren, Frank Turnock, Harvey Ukura, Dick Huhta, Phil Lippo. Cloyce Murdock, Leo Dahlberg, Pete Seelen, Bob Dressel, Roger Olson, Steven Nelson, Don Dudley, Lenny Kroska, Jack Kop, Jim Gassert and Rita Butterfield
Welcome new members Bob Dressel and Steve Nelson, visitors Shawn Lindgren and Leo Huhta and daughter.

Minutes of February 1 distributed and read. Motion by Jack second by Al to approve. Carried. (The March meeting was cancelled due to bad weather.)

Old Business -

- Outhouses - Mike not here, don’t know if he’s gotten any other information. Polaris Grant will be applied for. Tony may have some used one as well. Will put in at least 3 locations near the trail

-Soo Pit, one near Automba, and one on the east end of the Soo Line near the Wisc line.
- Signs are being printed at Image Designs. Should be available soon. Some will go to Cromwell.

- Class II vehicles- The County Board of Commissioners passed the amendment to the existing ordinance which will allow Class II ATVs on the Soo Line Trail. They added a new paragraph dealing with alcoholic beverages, no person shall drink or consume alcoholic beverages while operating or have in possession any bottle or container that has been opened and contents partially removed.

Aitkin County ATV Alliance- There has been a request from Aitkin County to have an ATV Alliance member on the newly formed committee to discuss the new trail. Motion by Jack, second by Dick to have Frank as the representative. Carried. Also discussed an alternate - table until we find out if Hill City is going to appoint someone from their club.

Township meetings - There will be some township meetings coming up soon, including Salo and Beaver - Aitkin Co. To discuss portions of the new trail.

- ATV Training - McGrath April 14 - have 25 signed up, starts 9:00 am. Tamarack training is set for May 26 at Tamarack School, starting at 9:00am. This class is not yet full. Parents can contact McGregor community education to sign up. No date yet for Barnum training.

- Jackets - Daryl had some jackets available to try on. Will wait another month. New member Steve Nelson also sells jackets. We’ll see what prices he can give us.

- Work Logs - Reminder to keep your work logs up to date and turn them is as necessary to Jim.

New Business -

- White Pine Riders have written a letter requesting the donation of $400 to assist them in getting their IRS paperwork underway. Motion by Mel, second by Jack to approve this. Carried.

- Maps - Orv has been getting the local maps and coloring in the trails, etc., He checked with a local printer on costs - $185 for the first thousand, $125/100 after that. Take no action at this time. This particular map is outdated and perhaps a new one in in the works. There has been discussion of maps at the Alliance Meetings.

- Ride/Dedication of Turnock Trail - Due to wet conditions, we will hold off on this until next month.

- ATVAM Fair May 3-6 2007 at Benton County Fairgounds.

- ATVAM - Correspondence reminding of a public comment meeting on May 22, Arrowhead Center, Grand Marais to hear comments on forest classification in Cook County.

- Aitkin County Fair - Frank states they will be having an ATV pull at the fair, this is something that is getting bigger around the state.

- Received a request from the Moose Lake Youth Baseball Association - selling sign space for $35, 4' x 3' sign would be posted at one of the two baseball fields. Motion by Dick, second by Lenny, to donate to the ML Baseball Assn and buy space on one sign. Would include club name logo and web site.

- Motion by Dick to reimburse secretary/treasure $150/month, second by Leo. Carried.

- 50/50 Tickets - Pete will handle tickets this year. Darwin has cash box. We will talk about the County Fair at next meeting. Lenny will contact beverage supplier about a banner for booth.

- Lenny to contact Warren about blading the grade. In an earlier meeting we agreed to have him do this no less than 3 times per summer.

No other items for discussion.

Next meeting at Denham Run, May 3, June 7 and July 12 (due to the holiday). Posters will be available for the yearly schedule.

Motion by Lenny, second by Cloyce to adjourn. Carried.
