club co-chair. Rick was one of the club s certified Youth ATV instructors.
His funeral is tomorrow at Northland Funeral Home. He will be missed.
Sympathy to his family.
Old Business:
- The new grant has been signed by the County and returned to the
State. This is combined Trail and Pit money.
- Our taxes have been completed and will be signed and sent on.
Bill for $150 from H&R Block will be paid.
- Youth Safety Training - May 6 at the Minnewawa Gun Club and June
3 at the Carlton Co Fairgrounds.
- Darwin Chester is handling this 50/50 raffle
tickets this year. Also our legislative rep. Will get update at next meeting.
- DNR - Joe Russell has come back to the position he vacated a
short time ago.
- Web Site - Nothing new. Appears to be running smoothly. No new
suggestions.
- Caps - Rita passed info on regarding caps. Motion by Jerry, second
by Lenny to have the logo digitized and put that on the caps, and
can also be used later for sweatshirts, etc. Carried. Beige caps
with dark green visor is the first color choice.
- White Pine Riders Club is up and running. Jim reports that have
their by-laws written and are going to pursue some grant money.
They are willing to work on the south end of the Lawler trail.
- We didn’t have a work day in April due to rain. Jerry and
Mike are ready to start signing project in Pit.
- Discussion on tables and outhouses in Soo
Pit. Many possibilities,
eg., community groups or school industrial arts classes build outhouses,
and cement tables all surrounded by cement posts to prevent vandalism.
- Turnock trail was toured. It should be wider in some places.
Most of this trail is logging trail and snowmobile trail maintained
by Tamarack Sno Flyers. The Aitkin Co Land Commissioner is in favor
of this improvement. Franklin will try to negotiate some culverts,
etc. and will pursue costs. Mel said both ends would need to be
gated.
- Dick has the Cromwell Pavailion reserved for our Christmas Party
for January 13 2007.
New Business:
- Aitkin Co Posse - Mel and Don attended the first meeting. Stated
training will be held, will not just be an informal group.
- County Fair - Club in favor of having spot at Carlton Co Fair
again. Jim will make arrangements and take care of securing the
booth again. Thank you Jim.
- Spring Fever Days - Barnum - Rita gave date of June 10 for parade.
Some members have been in parade in past years.
- Publicity - Lenny continues to send notices to 7 or 8 papers.
Get printed in most of them.
- Discussion of changing meeting locations. Tabled. Continue with
current schedule. Changes can be made if needed.
- Spring Ride - nothing planned. Pursue fall ride. Lenny offered
to help out. Ride planned for Rita’s in September.
- Trails reported to be in good shape now.
- For the benefit of new members, Jim gave overview of club's activities
over the past 4 years.
Motion by Franklin, second by Phil to adjourn. Carried. Adjourn
at 8:15pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Rita Butterfield
