Meeting Minutes

Present: Al Rinta, Earl Romnes, Mel Johnson, Frank & Darlene Turnock, Jack & Cheryl Kop, Tony Sundholm, Darwin Chester, Lenny Kroska, Orv Evensen, Tarey Johnson, Jim Gassert, Rick Jennissen, Leo Dahlberg, Phil Lippo, Leo & Rita Butterfield.

Minutes of April 7 distributed.  Motion by Earl, second by Leo to approve.  Carried.

Jim gave overview of status of grants.  Remainder of the one maintenance grant is negotiable with County for work done.

ATV Youth Training - will be held on 5/21 at Barnum Fire Hall.  Mel stated training will be held in Tamarack area on 5/7.  Mel, Al and Earl are all instructors as well as Rick.  Donations for the trailer are being secured.  There is $693 from the Wrenshall area defunct ATV club, $200 from Moose Horn Rod & Gun Club and well as a commitment by Cromwell Sno-Gophers.

Discussion was held regarding info from last meeting in Lawler regarding the 5 mile loop across old snowmobile trails and some privately owned property.  Roger Howard will be retiring on May 31, concern regarding who will be doing the paperwork needed for this trail extension, and other trail projects.

Most forests are open, basically everything is open for riding except for a few bad spots which are signed “closed”.

E-Board determined to pay $25 monthly  to each the secretary and treasurer positions, effective immediately, to cover additional costs incurred in carrying out club duties.  Most of the snowmobile clubs in the area  have this type arrangement also.  Tarey Johnson - Northern Exposure - will receive $20 monthly for taking care of club e-mails,

Club Ride - Lenny suggested ride from Denham to Red Top.  May 21 would be best day.  Meet at 11:00, ride at 12Noon.

ATVs are riding on the snowmobile trail on the far end of the Soo Pit.  Snowmobile Club reports riding in prohibited area in Nemadji area as well.  We will purchase and install one gate and fencing on north end of Soo Pit.  Perhaps some rock in area as well.

“Master plan” Meeting - We will attempt to get the 3 local clubs together - UpNorth Riders, White Pine and Evergreen PAC - to discuss future trail plans.  Hope to set up in July.

Discussion on County Fair.  Everyone in agreement we should do this again.  Orv will check on getting 50/50 tickets again.  They should be available soon.  Grand Prize this year is a Polaris.

Darwin gave legislative update, HF #1157 includes penalties for wetland violations.

Motion by Jerry, second by Lenny to adjourn.  Carried.
