Old Business:
- ATV Youth Training - Rick reported the first class will be held
on 10/23, participants must be 12 and must complete the training
cd put out by DNR prior to attending training. States class is
almost full. Have not seen any local advertising.
- Work Logs- Remember to turn in time spent on club activities
that fall under the grant. Jim will take care of billing.
- Kevin Arends reminds to turn in work logs by end of November.
Encouraged club to submit a new grant for another project. Money
not used will be carried over into a new grant.
- Cass County trails - Mel reports still nothing has been done
on these trails. Club has not had any contact with anyone there.
- Red Top Trail rumors - reports are that Mille Lacs
Drift skippers do not want to be responsible for this segment of
trail any longer. Don will get more information for the next meeting.
- Tax 501C(6) - Jim received notice this is
the club’s tax
status.
- Club Ride - Sept 25 - Met at Duquette Store. Rode approximately
30 miles, 18 machines. Weather was great, everyone seemed to
have a fun time.
- Soo Line Trail - As of today, all has been graded and brushed.
Clarify winter trail use - only Carlton County portion of Soo
Line is open year round to ATVs.
- Soo Pits - Work Party - Another day is needed to finish putting
up signs. Set October 12, meet at Moose Lake Implement at 9:00am.
New Business: - Kevin Arends congratulated the
club for our hard work, perseverance and patience with the grants.
Stated he likes the Web Site, good information. Impressed with
the membership numbers. Urged us to keep going.
- Safety Efforts - City trails need signs. People
are getting lost from the AmericInn to town, and ending up at DNR
office. Need to know where to put signs, locations of buried cables,
etc, who wants signs, etc.
- PR & Ordinances - Members may help the area
small towns set up ordinances re: atvs. Dick said Cromwell has
recently updated their ordinance.
- Township Officers Mtg - Aitkin Co meet at Jacobson
Community Center October 21 7:00 pm to discuss trail use. Mel,
Leo and Dick to attend.
- November 4 meeting in Cromwell - Local law enforcement
and DNR staff will be there to answer questions, etc. Perhaps we
can get Aitkin Co representatives at the first Lawler meeting (Feb
3).
- Soo Line South to Soo Line North - Don brought
up for discussion the possibility of joining the two trails near
Hwy 65. Area needs to be GPS’d, some old roads in area.
- Maps - Perhaps the Carlton County Economic Development
could be tapped to fund maps. Orv talk to Dave Talbot, Moose Lake
City Administrator.
Motion by Mel, second by Jack to adjourn. Carried.
