3 OLD BUSINESS:
a-LOGO Lenny presented three (3) different drawings for our logo.
They haven't been able to get any response from folks they work
with. Rita to contact a couple area printers to get going with
this so we can get caps, decals, stickers for our ATVs, business
cards. By unanimous vote of all members present, one of the original
designs was selected. Perhaps printers can come up with another
idea.
b-GRANT November 30 was deadline for filing grant with the State.
Jim, Orv, Dave and Jack met with the County Bd and have their support.
The paperwork has been done. Joe said we should know by the end
of January. Administrative costs - postage, phone calls, etc, can
be charged to the grant, up to 15%. Actual work costs can be reimbursed
at 90% of actual cost. The DNR will assist with survey over the
winter. An environmental review process will be completed.
c-CO ROAD 46 - STURGEON LAKE - Greg Bennett - of Pine County,
has not yet been in touch with Jim. Evergreen PAC wants to make
an effort to improve the situation with driveways, roadways, etc
in this area. The Embassy has closed their trail. Old Hwy 61, gravel
road west of the Munger trail, is a city street and is closed to
ATV use.
d-PINE COUNTY - SOO LINE - Carlton Co is the only county that
allows ATV travel on the Soo Line trail during the winter months.
Lenny will try to continue discussions with Pine County.
e-OTHER -None
4 NEW BUSINESS:
a-TRAIL SIGNS- Grant-In-Aid snowmobile trails are basically easements
secured from private landowners and are closed to ATVs. Evergreen
PAC will post signs on the Grant-In-Aid Trails where they intersect
with the Soo Line Jack, Jim and Lenny will work with some of the
area snowmobile clubs. Once signs are obtained, Jim and Darwin
will work East of ML., Jack and Fave willi work west and northwest
of ML, Lenny will post into Pine County.
B-NEWSLETTER - Discussion held on printing a newsletter that would
be mailed to all club members, probably
on a quarterly basis, to coincide with changing the location of
meetings. This will also include a list of all business sponsors.
Anyone can get ideas together to be included, we will welcome your
input.
C-MEETING LOCATIONS - We have held
3 meetings at Denham Run, January will be our 3rd meeting at
Iverson Inn. Unanimous decision to hold the Feb., March and April
meetings in Cromwell at the Park Pavilion. This is a heated building
so should be cozy for the winter meetings. Jim will ask Dick
to contact Voyager Press regarding these meetings.
D-PUBLICITY - Lenny continues to
take care of the advertising in all the local papers, Star Gazefte
and Evergreen Shopper, Arrowhead Leader, Manny's Shoppper. We
need to be a little more persistent as they don't always run
notices.
E-OTHER - Darwin
continues to be our "legal watchdog'. He will get any of our
concerns to the right person at the State level.
A variety of maps are available at the DNR.
Discussion held regarding having a 'Recreatonal Trails Committee" with members
throughout the county to discuss any problems or concerns with any of our local
trails - snowmobile, atv, whatever.
Motion by Lenny, seconded by Dave
to adjourn at 8:30pm.
